Chicken tikka masala

Relishing the weekend with this utterly delicious chicken tikka masala. Believe me, this is pretty irresistible!! 🍗🍗

Recipe

Ingredients
For marination
• Chicken – 500 gm
• Hung curd – 1/4 cup
• Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
• Fresh lemon juice – 1 tbsp
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Kashmiri red chilli powder – 2 tsp
• Coriander powder – 1 tsp
• Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
• Garam masala – 1 tsp
• Black pepper powder – 1/2 tsp
• Salt – To taste
For gravy
• Oil – 1.5 tbsp
• Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
• Finely chopped onions – 4 medium
• Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
• Tomato puree – 1.25 cup
• Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
• Kashmiri red chilli powder – 1.5 tsp
• Coriander powder – 2 tsp
• Roasted cumin powder – 1 tsp
• Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
• Salt – To taste
• Water – 1.5 cup
• Kasuri methi – 1 tsp
• Fresh coriander leaves

For marinating the chicken

1. Take hung curd in a bowl. Add ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and mix well

2. Add all the dry spices, salt and mix well. Apply this marinade evenly on the chicken and let it rest for about an hour at room temperature

3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a kadhai and add the marinated chicken to it. Let the chicken cook in the oil for about 25-30 minutes

For the gravy

1. Heat oil in a kadhai. Add cumin seeds and let them crackle. Add the onions and cook until they are slightly brown

2. Add ginger garlic paste and mix well. Cook for 2-3 minutes. Add the tomato puree and cook well on low heat until the water gets evaporated

3. Add the dry spices and mix well. Cook until oil separates out of the onion tomato mixture. Add water and let the gravy cook on low to medium heat for about 15-20 minutes

4. Add the marinated, sautéed chicken to the onion tomato gravy and mix well. Cook the chicken for 10 minutes. You can add a little more water if required

5. Adjust the salt and cook until the consistency of the gravy is semi thick. Add kasuri methi and mix well

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve your hot and yummy chicken tikka masala with paratha/naan/rice as per your preferences! 🍗🍗
